Well was going to go for a ride today, thank goodness it was raining. Since it was raining like hell I decided to flush and bleed my brakes, because the rear has been a little mushy. Well come to find out the rear master cylinder is leaking. I am asking if it is recommended to rebuild the original MC or go for new? If new any recommendations and a link if you have one? 1977 FLH disc brakes.
Thanks
Ok I have the new master cylinder. Right now I have Dot 3 brake fluid. This MC calls for Dot 5. Flush the system with??? Any tips/tricks on the change?
Thanks
I wouldn't under-estimate it when he says completely. Once I think it is totally flushed, I go back and do it again. And that's everything, master cylinder, caliper and fittings, brake line, seals. Everything.
After that you should be good to go for a long while with a trust worthy system. If there's one thing I like to be trustworthy it's my brakes.
When I changed from 3 to 5 I even changed brake lines just to be sure.
