check ball cap plug

check ball cap plug
picked up the colony hex plug set, two are in position, but replacing the plug over the checkball screen has me defeated....it won't budge with the tools I have including a long, hex shafted steel flat punch ground to fit the slot.
...soaked with penetrating oil, tried everything short of an impact driver until I'm on the verge of completely screwing up the slot.
any suggestions besides pulling the pump off?

we use a hand held impact driver - it uses a 3/8 bit on the end like a sccket has a different bits, that fit in the end you twist it in the direction of removal and give it a shot < lightly with a hammer and it will brake the screw from the stuck spot its in
harbor freight has them cheap as it will be a one time use for some
the snap on one we have a guess 10 different types bits and some we made for different apps

Hey good to see another shovel owner from San Jose.
And yes the impact driver is definitely a very useful tool for this purpose.
Just one other idea. Have you tried using Mouse Milk. It is used by aviation mechanics. Ended up using it on a stuck rear brake caliper in my 75FXE.
Getting it...simple. Head out to reid Hillview Airport off Capitol Expwy. When you turn in you make the first right onto the frontage road. There is a UPS store that comes to sight first. Right next to it (facing Capitol) is this small aviation parts place. They usually carry a couple of extra bottles all the time.
I always swore by PB Blaster until I found this stuff. Anyway you might give it a shot before you start whacking it with the impact driver.
