Want to know how fast your bike will go? 0-60 times are harder to find for cruisers. Most members suggest that sport bikes may be faster, but that will not slow anyone down. There are a lot of modifications you can make to make your motorcycle faster.

Read the full discussion below to find out the elapsed time on these motorcycles.

As they say for all out power to wieght Rice is Nice however there or a bunch of Euro's out there which on the twisties will absolutley spank some of the Ricer's out there. They have the power but they also have the handling and braking balance to make it all work. All depends on what floats your boat. 0-to insanity ain't everything and riding a Harley is never going to replace that or compete in that arena. This not to say you can't make one scary fast you can. It is really fun to take some old technology and make it rip. Back in the day I built an old opposed twin BMW R90S using stock displacement, shortened cyclinders (Stroke and Bore to equal the stock displacement) for maximum lean angles and quick RPM ramp up. Combined with lightened flywheel, Race clutch, High lift race cam, 12.5:1 Compression, Dual plugs, 4 valve heads with super light rockers, lightened everything, ditched the points for a black box, lengthened intakes, Deloto 40's, and a bunch more expensive engine work. Long swing arm with gusseting, Suzuki Front forks and dual discs. Did some trick (read more bucks) suspension work and lightened axles. Basically a race bike with lights and a tag. Results were a bike that tripped the scales at 360 pounds including saddlebags. Dyno'd at 90HP and over 113FT. Would spank my Ninja 900 and leave it 3 curves back on the twisties. Could look at the stars at anything under 80 MPH in 3rd gear or less with just a hard twist of the throttle. Comfortable enough to ride for 200 mile jounts. It was pretty trick back in the day. Began as a build from parts BMW R90 and well I couldn't stop spending money on it over 5 years I owned it and moving from the east coast to the west. I would ride it, read about something new and next thing you now I was sliding the plastic at the cash register.
My Harley is a completely different ride and my motor mods are to make it more rideable, not necessarily faster.

I'm certainly not knocking anyone who's into hopping up their harleys, but it just seems to be a waste in my opinion. Lets face it...if you wanna go fast, you could go out and buy a 5000 dollar suzuki sv 650 and blow any harley out of the water...and that's the cheapest and slowest rice burner out there. I, personally, don't ride real hard anyway, so what a harley offers is more than enough for me. But for those who do want to race around, why would you dump all kinds of money into trying to make a heavy, sh*tty handling cruiser into a race bike. It's almost like putting a turbo on a minivan. Why not just buy a corvette?!?
I'm sure I'll get killed for these comments...so once again...even though I don't get it..I do get the idea of having an obsession with making things bigger, better, faster, stronger, etc. So please take no offense. Hell, I do it with my computers...and to a lesser extent with my cars...just have to have the best stuff. As far as my bike is concerned...I'll continue to make it look, sound, and ride better....but I don't really care if it's any faster...so at least my daughter won't have to worry about her college money going to engine mods..and I'm sure that can get REAL expensive

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I understand folks wanting to upgrade the power band on they HD. There is a limit to where it gets crazy high cost and are you willing to go that far to get it right.
A lot of guys will change cams, head work but never check the run out. The run out is the key as how far you can go and keep reliability.
Then if you want fast like others has said you can save money by just getting a rice type bike.
There are some us that have different bikes just for that.
I have 2 for having power and playing on.
My wife's bike is a SS106 base with SS cams mild head work and can beat a Honda VTX 1800 2 up. 60-80 roll on in fifth is 2.8 seconds.
Then I have a 05 Super Glide 113 pro street. It will eat the wide glide easy enough.
We don't ride these much, close to 7-8,000 miles a year.
I have Street Glide for touring. No engine work, just cruising and touring.
If you have one bike and want to compete with the rice bikes best get a rice bike and save lots of $$$ is how I see it.

Well speakin from experience with an hd in the quarter mile u can put a hurting on rocket too. I had a 1998 1200custom that dyno'd 70tq an 74hp. Was running a 12.1@105mph in the quarter an could take 90% of the 600 an 750s at the track. But alot of it comes down to the rider. An this was a daily ridden sporty w drag pipes an a stock hd tire that Doesnt hook like a rocket does.

You're right. When you're pushing limits the less talented riders get left behind. Even if they are riding more capable bikes.
