Default Installed an old school cat's eye dash on my heritage springer pics inside

First of all, great thanks to Redbeard with his help on this project.

A former 03 heritage springer owner, he recently built a terrific newer springer. Here is his thread.

His old school cat eye dash looked great to me so I decided to follow suit. He gave me great instructions and the parts list.

To answer your questions...

The Cat's Eye dash is from a Crossbones, as I wanted black. A Heritage Classic uses the same dash in chrome. You can also use either the tank trim from a Crossbones, Heritage Classic, or Softail Slim. Since I was painting, I had the painter remove the weld/seam on the tank and smooth it down.

You'll need to purchase the information lights as well, as they're specific to those consoles, along with the speedometer backclamp, ignition mounting screws, and console trim. Optional is the ignition name plate. You'll need to reuse your speedometer gasket from your current console.

Here are the parts numbers:
Softail Crossbones Fuel Tank Console Cat's Eye 71953-08 $145.00 (note this is black, for the chrome one choose the dash from a new heritage classic part number 71512-09)
Console Trim 71978-08 $3.65
Speedometer Backclamp 67341-04B $8.33
Indicator Lights Cat's Eye Dash 68545-08 $63.00
Ignition Name Plate Cat's Eye Dash 71990-09 $15.00
Console Screws 2501A $8.40 (8 pack from Kutter) ( I bought some from 8-32 screws from the parts store instead)
Cat's Eye Console Tank Panel with Pouch 91643-09 $83.00

All prices were from Kutter HD.

To install the console, read back through my thread. Somewhere I showed pictures of the little plate I made to adapt the tank EFI plate to accommodate the Cat's Eye dash. The mounting holes are different - the Cat's Eye is about 1" backwards of the stock/normal dash.

Hope that helps!
It's an easy job, only tricky part is you have to make a little plate to mount the retaining bolt lower.

Here are some before and after pics, and a pic of the little plate I made.

Little plate necessary

Here's a little video I took to explain how the speedometer comes out of the dashboard. It's a pretty clever design by Harley, snap fit with pins to keep the speedo centered properly.

I'm not sure it's the best bang for the buck mod, as its a pretty esoteric change, but it adds a nice old school look to the springer in my opinion.

I like it. Much better look than the stock dash. I have the same stock dash on my Deluxe and it is the only thing about my bike that does not please my eye. Good job and excellent write up.

Thanks very much! I like it too. At the bike show today I was noticing it is a nice clean look compared to the stock. And as an added bonus apparently it has LED lights as they are much brighter I noticed.

I decided I didn't have enough anniversary badges (lol) so I repurposed a windshield badge for my new pocket.

Looks really good Joe. It's such a big improvement, especially compared to the stock dash!

Oh no..those are the kind of changes that I like the best on bikes, Makes it your own and a lot of people will not even notice and that makes it all the cooler. Nice job
