Default New to the Softail line

Been drooling over pics of some absolutely gorgeous bikes in these forums. I was lucky enough to score a good deal on a 2006 Night Train, only has 19k miles and in the color that I was looking to find, Black Cherry. If the weather cooperates when I get home this week, I should be able to pick it up and bring it home Friday afternoon and to get her comfy next to my Road King.

Always loved the look of the train, and could never figure out why the moco stopped making them. I do know that it is one of the hardest bikes to find, at least in my neck of the woods. But I am looking forward to making it mine (already bought some goodies for it ).

Anyway, thanks in advance for providing some really good ideas and assisting in putting a dent in my wallet, part of the reason of love this forum, even though I mainly lurk in the corners like a creep.

Friday night, or Saturday, I will have some pics up.
I'm still 7,000 miles away from home, I am way over due for a wrench and a cold one.

nice choice. and since yours is an 06 you will have more optimal final drive ratio gearing (32/70 belt pulleys) than the 2007-up bikes (32/66 belt pulleys). that just means your bike will accelerate faster with 7% more TQ to the rear wheel, and will lend itself better to cam upgrade.

That is good to know, already been researching cams for it. Planning on this one being my "fun" bike.

I love that Black Cherry paint. If they had offered it in 09 my Train would be that color too. Welcome to the Night Train club.

Andrews 57H, SE204 are good choices to look at in drop-in cams and they are easy to tune. also a good aftermarket tuning product like powervision or TTS so you can dial it all in. stay away from the SE tuning products. basically you want cams that bring the torque in early like 2k-2500 rpm and are overall optimal in the 2500-4500 rpm range- which is where you will be riding most often especially on a town / fun bike.

This is all I have at the moment. Next time I post a pic, it'll be dust, bag and windshield free.
Lepera bare bones, lowering kit (until I can get shotguns), new pipes, and alloy art rear signals should be on sometime within the week.

^ Looks to be in pretty nice shape- only good thing about the lowering kit is it will make you want to buy the SS kit that much sooner- the ride quality will suck
