Default caught in between a Low rider S and a Fatboy

Looking to get a new bike. I really like the new Low rider S. Ive owned every type of Harley known. From sporties to touring. My 2 favorites were my 09 Night train and my 2012 Fat boy Lo. After my Lo and CVO Road Kind its hard to imagine going from Foot boards back to pegs. I did have an 08 street bob that I enjoyed. That was the only Dyna ive ever owned. Been primarily a Softail fan since 09.

I Love the styling of the new Low rider S. Love the fact that it comes with the 110ci and all the goodies for the price. It just has a lot of character. Really love the look of it.. Just a really cool bike. Just don know if I want to go back to foot pegs and id have to buy a 2 up set and rear pegs for 2 up riding. So that's more money id have to drop into it right away. And I fear it might be cramped for 2up. Plus its got a pretty high seat at 26.5 laden. I usually like a low seat. Such a bad *** looking bike though..

After thinking about it I'm thinking of just getting another Fat boy. After all I loved my 2012 Lo. But this time if I do I'm going with a regular Fat boy with all the Chrome and better stock suspension. Fat boys are just really comfy to me and I love the seating position, and foot boards. Its already 2 up from the factory. Only extra money to put into it at first would be slip on mufflers. It comes with the 103 but many have said the 103 is actually better then the 110 for longevity and builds. both bikes are the same msrp. Its really hard because I like both bikes for 2 different reasons. The practical man in me says buy the Fat boy but devil on my shoulder says Low rider S.

What's the best way to go for the money since there both the same price and I like them both for different reasons?? I hate split decisions.

And then there's us. We'll tell you to make a "package deal on BOTH!" It sounds to me like you've already sold yourself on the the Fatty. Either bike is capable for 2-up riding. I'm bias towards the FXDL because I bought one last month, but that's what I wanted, not you.

Really, either bike can do the job with aplomb.

How many posts, use the word "aplomb?"

I don't know. They are really no similarities. The fat boy is cool and comfortable and the low rider is fast and fun. That's why the best solution for me is to always have two bikes.

I would go for the Low Rider S. Function over form wins it for me.

Different strokes...
The problem comes when you like them all. But since you're asking for opinions, I've always liked the handling of the Dynas over the other models. Since my bank account can't handle a stable of more than one, I'd go with the LR S.
Good luck deciding!

You know you can get rider and passenger boards to replace the pegs right

Well installing big boards i think would look silly on the Low rider S. If thats the bike i go with i would definitely keep it as mid controls and keep the bike true to itself as a speedster. Maybe the small mini boards that just look like wide pegs would work? I dont know its a tough decision. I love to be comfortable riding and the Fatboy is definitely just that. But i love the idea of a fast blacked out Dyna as well. Dam..

I'm wondering if the Low Rider S could take the floorboard setup that was standard on the Dyna Police model of a few years' back ...?

They would fit. All the dynas are the same for the most part. Only reason they may not fit in stock form is the way the exhaust is set up in the front with double pipes bent in the same area. But honestly Harley has foot boards that attach right to the peg post now that would actually be a better fit.

Something i didnt mention thats sways me away from the Low rider S is actually the main thing thats drawing me too it right now! The 110ci engine. Ill explain. Right now the engine is pretty much what makes it such a good deal for the money and makes it special for now. But what happens in 2017 when all the bikes have 110ci and the touring models have 117ci engines? When that happens it will loose some of the mystique and just be another Dyna. A really nice Dyna but still.. Im just affraid when that happens if i go that route id be really questioning my choice and if i should have picked the all out comfort of the Fat boy. Just thinking out loud playing devils advocate.

My last bike:

So, yes, I am biased.

I've also ridden Softails, and my riding buddy has a Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy. Gorgeous bike.

Here's the deal: If you like to ride in the curves, and have fun doing it, the Dyna will be the better bike. Better lean angle, better ground clearance. Downside: Dynas have a bit of vibration. Yes, they do. Mine was at its most noticeable around 70 mph or so.

The Fat Boy has the balanced motor, and will be smoother and have less vibration at cruising speed. Downside: Softails have the least lean angle clearance of any Harley, and you'll be scraping the boards more often if you like to push it a little.

Both are just fine for riding two up. With the right seat, of course.

I had these on my Super Glide, and they were incredible! They made the ride so much more comfortable, and got lots of compliments as well.

You really can't go wrong with either one, so take a test ride on both!

Good luck!
