I believe the key is to not let it get too dirty....i wash my bike once a week, PITA...if i miss a was I use this its a cleaner made by honda. this is the old formula with a bunch of now illegal ****...probably why it works so damn good.
Thx Cvaria. I was wondering if anyone else used the steel wool but was afraid to mention it. I only use it on my exhaust & cheap-o T-bars but it does work great. Steel Wool & some Meguiars.
yes yes. best to make sure the parts are actually chrome and not ah-loo-men-e-umm. steel wool will scuff up aluminum and it will need to be polished.
i use polish and cloth first, steel wool if cloth and polish don't work.
i was told when i got my wheels to use beeswax for a couple of days before use, to fill the pores. maybe junk, but the wheels are still good, though they are quite new, right enough
I did mine today with a spray bottle with white vinegar and water in it (1:8) and an sos pad as needed.
I bought my bike used and this was the first time I have touched it and it came out like new.
This didnt remove tar but did remove all calcium spots and whatever else there was.
It also feels smooth to the touch now and I havent even polished it yet.
Whenever I clean chrome Ill use a lubricant such as mystic spray or clay bar lubricant to prep the surface to reduce swirling and fine scratches on the chrome followed by high quality microfiber (at least 320 gsm) and white diamond polish then let sit for a minute and wipe off residue.
