My old boots finally "died" on a long trip out west several years ago. Soles just came apart. Since we were 2-up and heavily loaded I just went into the next Harley Dealership and bought a pair of 6" boots, not cheap.

They are okay to ride in, but suck to walk more than a few blocks in. For years I have kept my eyes open for a good comfortable riding boot that I could walk a couple of miles in if I had to.

Picked up a short military "deployment" boot a couple of weeks ago. Since it is made for troops in hot climates it wouldn't work well for guys up north, but most all of my riding is in warm temps year round so it works for me.

The first week I had these boots I wore them on my daily 3 mile walk and they were extremely comfortable.

Just curious, does anyone find the perfect pair of boots and get them repaired or resoled as needed?

Or is it always shopping for new boots?

I won't say perfect boots, but I have a nice pair of around town harness boots that had very slippery soles. I had them replaced with heavy lugged Vibram. Cost $40. Well worth it to upgrade or repair for that price.

I have a couple pair I have resoled with great results, one pair of Rocky and one Danner. I have at least six (6) pair of real good quality EMS style boots I now wear just for riding, all lace up, some have side zippers, some Gortex and some don't. Great soles due to the environment they were designed to work in and great support well up over the ankle.

I was riding with cowboy boots... Don't do it! Lol
I swapped to a leather work boot made by Justin Boots. They didn't have enough grip. Especially on old asphalt roads. I picked a pair of HD-Riding boot from my local dealer. Although not a fan of the eagle stitched in the front, you can't see it with jeans on anyway. Very comfortable and light with a soft sole that grips any surface. Hope this helps.

Would love those but not good for narrow feet unfortunately. Had to return them. Still wearing Rocky Gortex .

I like Sidi All Road Gore-Tex Boot, guess I have rode about 80k miles with them. A little hot in the summer, but comfortable and have always kept my feet dry. I also like the height, my shorter boots have my pants leg riding above the boot and it's not comfortable. I like a tall boot, even with wet weather riding gear I've found the bottom of my pants soak up water and with a tall boot I don't feel it.
