Sorry, a little late to this thread. I would have recommended sanding down the clear and leaving some of the factory paint and the factory primer, but "too late!" You'll need to put something on the bare metal, otherwise it will start to oxidize. If you want to leave the bare metal look, I've heard of putting oil on it, but I don't think that would be practical. If you're ok with it, I would suggest applying some metal etching primer asap. There might be something out there that's clear, but I don't know.

Thanks for the info. No I'm going for the raw oxidated look. I want a little wear showing. I'm still goi g over the tank with a 3m pad and then I'm going over it WD40. That's what some people have been doing. There are better options, but that's what I can get locally.
Thanks for the feedback. I've got to let it set with me for a while to see where I'm going from here. I have thought about doing the fender though. It's so easy really.
