I have 6 of the cheap harbor freight tenders I have picked up over the years. They have not given me any trouble with the oldest being about 5 years old.

I paid less than 10 bucks fore each one of them and they stay plugged in 24/7. Tenders do help your batter last longer. Sounds like you just got a bad battery. YD

You're right, they dont make'em like that anymore. But these aren't too shabby either. They are small and work great....I've been using 3 of these for the last 6 years with no problems and the price is decent too.

I've had an optimate 3 sp hooked up to my fatbob for the last few years (I couldn't ride due to a knee injury).

Fired the bike straight up with the original 6 yr old battery.

I had one, but didn't like the "wall wart" prongs on the transformer body. I have 2 of these:

and 3 MoCo tenders with the same form factor-I suspect that the Battery Tender is the OEM for the MoCo tender. And yes, 5 bikes, 5 tenders on 24/7/365 except when I'm mounted and moving.

That's the first I've seen of that style. If my Juniors ever quit working I'll buy those next time.
