I'm in need of a new jacket I've had a mesh jacket for years but it's time for leather, I like some of the HD jackets, just wondering what's out there how it fits prices, ex.
I got a HD jacket when I first got my new/modern bike in 12-2012. At the time, all I had was a thin leather coat and I was freezing. Being away from bikes for 35 years, I didn't know where to get a regular non HD jacket, so I bought one at the shop. Yeah it wasn't cheap but going on 4 years later, it's been a good buy, IMO.
I'm old school. I splurged and bought a Schott Perfecto 618. The Schott 613 (One Star) and the 618 fit snug, like a well-tailored suit. If you want a more looser modern fit, get the model 118.
They're pricey, but worth every penny. I scored mine on ebay for $625. Buy once, cry once.
There are tons of threads on this. Don't cry, when I say this. Do a search.
In short, HD jackets are nice but you can get made in USA jackets for similar money. Fox Creek, Schott, Hillside, Brooks Leather.
I lucked into some custom leathers from a local seamstress. A guy my exact size was hit by a LHT, and sold me his jacket and Elk skin chaps.
Don't go cheap. A top quality, well made leather jacket designed for riding will be expensive but will last a lifetime. I'd recommend something with a removable full sleeve insulated liner.
I've had my Hein Gericke for 30 years, still in great shape.
Many of the HD branded jackets are made for looks, a few are actually good riding jackets. Be sure you can tell the difference.

Don't remember when I first bought my Hein Gericke but I'm pretty sure it's on its third, maybe fourth bike. Like deadhawg says get one with the liner. Mine has the full sleeve, removable thermoliner which essentially makes it wearable almost year round. I love it, and it still looks good too!!
