Hey Wolf, here's how I mounted my narrow ness fairing in my 01 DX.
I used my turn signal standoffs with some homemade brackets to the pinch bolts on the upper tree. And if necessary, a small ziptie or something to the underside of the lower tree or whatever to reduce vibration.
(Hopefully my crappy pix show that.)
The only real issue is not twisting the fairing upwards when you tighten the pinch bolts.

If you don't run turn signals, I'm sure you could just put a carriage bolt or something subtle on the fairing.

Ok.

1. Bolted bottom of fairing to bottom of triple tree headlight mount
2. Used the front of fairing for hardware connections
3. Fork clamp installed right under top triple tree
