Thank you, I was wrong in how they work. Still think they are pretty nice. The fact that they stick out does not bother me.

Again, thanks for setting me straight. I heard the clicking and jumped to my conclusion.

Here you go, my half bell pit boss fits in there fine, lid closes, no obstructions. I also found a use for the lever, can hang my key there when in the garage.

If I bought a '17 those hideous things would be the first thing in the garbage. I have the Securemybagz thumb screws for mine and they work great ... I think they were $20 or $25, I forget. 4 clips and 4 thumb screws, no tools needed other than a screwdriver to pop off the old clips.

What is the part number that the lever screws into (should show on that instruction sheet). They look more robust than the J nuts you get at home depot, Lowe's etc.
