While your under the tank with the wiring, how much slack is under there? Can you pull out a few inches perhaps?

I've done that and had both good and not so good results.
It takes just a tiny bit of solder, too much and the finished clip might not "snap" into the other part. The wires will go into (in your case the male) clip, but when you put the clips together you don't get that nice tight snap fit.

You should be alright if your careful,
But anyone reading this later with a CAN-BUS system,, the solder can change the resistance the system reads and it could lead to a trouble light/indicator flashing

Thanks John, youve been a big help. i think i am going to leave it alone for now, i was pleased how they snapped in. Just not confident in how tight the connector was to the copper strand-- i bascially folded over the two "ears" and squeezed in together around the copper strand.

My tank is off (because the bike fell off the lift a few weeks ago) and i am replacing the dented tank and this directional.

There is quite a bit of wire slack, i was surprised how much wire came out of the area when i was digging for the turn signal end. here is a picture i took to document the wire position--but all that wire came form under the back bone
