Interested in a solo seat with pillion over a 1 piece. Can anyone chime in on their solo vs wide solo seats?
I'm 6 ft 220-230 lbs and the wide solo was recommended.
I have a wide solo c&c with backrest. Its a great looking seat and the seating position is perfect, sits lower and further back. I'm 6'2 / 280. Unfortunately, the seat didnt work out for me. At first it was very comfortable, but after about 1k miles the foam broke down and it was as if i were sitting on the pan. But you never know everyone's backside is different, making picking the right seat very difficult for some of us.
I've been using the C&C Squareback for about 7,000 miles now. I love it. Mine has the backrest and gel insert options. I haven't noticed any breakdown in the seat. It's a firmer seat, similar to Mustang in that way. I've done many 8+ hour days in this saddle, including riding from Albuquerque to home in 2 days and am very happy. Never was my *** actually sore. Hurt while riding or after getting off, sure. But sitting in a recliner for 8 hours a day will hurt your butt too. Sorry I don't have any other pictures.
I believe I'm going to give c&c a try... They are an excellent company to talk to and appear to put the customers 1st. I did consider a Corbin seat but after 5 days I have yet to hear back from them. I'm still contemplating on the solo vs the wide solo. The wide was recommended for my 6ft 230lb build but I'm still deciding. I also think I will get my seat moved back an extra inch.
When C&C did my seat, I had them re-cover my sissy bar pad to match. They goofed & used the wrong leather on the pad. Called 'em up & had a return shipping label in my inbox before we got off the phone. Good folks.
I love my C&C solo seat! I've done 850 mile days with no problem. I'm 5'8 and 280, had it for 2 years and no foam breakdown whats so ever. highly recommended!
