Default Ordered some Ohlins...

I got my 16 RGS a few weeks ago, and even while signing the papers on it I was rattling off in my head the "to do's"... Got my ventilator AC on it, a Dynojet "stock improved" tune (at least until I get to pipes), got my red line fluids in at the 1000mile svc this weekend, and spoke to Howard at MotorcycleMetal.com on Friday about shocks.

Was my intention to just get another set of bargain S36E's which I have and love on my Dyna, with the proper 32nm springs for my fat ***. Howard mentioned the new "black line" shocks for a few bucks more. Since they are behind the bags, I couldn't care less about them being murdered out Harley black, and told him that. He let me know that it wasn't just a paint job. Seems that the piston shaft is larger, and allows the use of use another needle valve (or something) that improves performance over the regular S36e's. I get lost on suspension hydrodynamics and valving and the like, so I just rely upon my trust in him. But what I did retain seemed to make sense. So for another $50, I figured what the hell.

I sent in his order form/questionnaire: weight, bike model, riding style, etc. and got back a quote on Sunday. Sent him the $ via PayPal and got an email this afternoon saying they are ready and would ship end of day. Got a UPS confirmation and should see them on Thurs.

So I can't review the shocks until I get them on, but just the same as my first experience with him, a lot of information and knowledge imparted to me and a speedy turnaround.

Can't wait to get them on. I'll be installing an Alloy Art stabilizer after I get them on as well, to tighten up things back there a little more.

I'll report back once they arrive. Looking forward to them.

Oh man, I wish he was so close. I really want to get his 30mm fork cartridges, but I can't pull my forks apart and get them machined where I keep my bikes. I'd love to be able to drop off and let him dial things in! You could maybe get shocks built and installed same day (Howard if you're reading this don't rip into me! I said "maybe" !!)

You will love them. Got mine from Howard last winter while I was in Florida and this Limited is not the same bike since I've got them on.

Huh? They come in a large box and are completely encased in the expanding foam.

The man in the Brown truck should be here tomorrow. Hopefully I can get these on by the weekend. On a side note, I picked up a set of new take off sliders and am ordering a pair of tubes. Going to send them down to him so he can build me a set of his 30mm fork cartridges over the winter (or sooner). Can't wait for them. For some reason the fork components for my Dyna are way more expensive then the bagger forks. No idea why. But I'm keeping my eyes out for that too.

If you're going to have them worked why not just get chrome ones?

Because the ones i'm getting only come in black. And besides, they are behind the bags and invisible 100% of the time. They could be blaze orange for all I care.
