New Year's Day Ride to Hawk's Nest, New York (Photos)
Took my RGU for a New Year's day ride today. The weather was beautiful here in New York City, about 45 degrees. Rode about 100 miles north of Manhattan to Hawk's Nest located near Port Jervis, New York. Hawk's Nest is a scenic area with a very nice scenic road. While there we made sure to stop and get off the bike and explore a bit. I'm very happy that we did that because along the side of the road we discovered a ladder that took us down to the water. I'll include some photos so you can see for yourself. There was about an 10 degree temp drop while there. No heated gear and still felt comfortable.

I've ridden that road (Rt. 91) many times. It's a really nice ride. The 'Hawks Nest' was actually a restaurant at one time. It was a great destination for bikers and sat right on the edge of the cliff. In good weather you could sit outside on a small deck and look down into the river. You would frequently see hawks riding the thermals over the river.
My very first ride on my bike when I bought it was that road. NJ north 2hrs, take the road west for an hour or so into Pennsylvania, then down the other side of the river. Cross back over at Dingman's Ferry and 2 1/2 hours home. A real nice days ride.
The restaurant burned down a couple of years later.
I've also eaten at the Millbrook Inn several times, and ridden across that same steel bridge.
This picture is plagiarized but I wanted folks to see what a portion of the road looks like.
Great pics and looks like a nice little "cool" trek. It was 40ish here in Central ne yesterday, but our roads are still covered w/sand & salt so...bikes stay sleeping. ZZZzzz...
