The retaining ring has to hook over the lip of the unit or it will probably vibrate out and bite the dust. I had to mash, push, pull, re-arrange, pray and shove like hell to get it pushed in far enough.
I also installed my Badlands ATS-03 turn signal module and some other miscellaneous wiring pieces on my way to wiring up this old girl.
Metrics have been doing it for decades, Harley should be able to if they wanted. I have a 750cc Honda that's supposed to be putting out 82hp. It's faster than my 1200, handles better, but I haven't even bothered to put insurance on it for a few years. Too uncomfortable for this old man, should clean the carbs and sell it before the tires get too old, I suppose. Bet I'd feel the same way about the Harley 750.
