People forget just how big Texas is. Been on farms and ranches, but no mechanical hand pumps around. Grew up in the 50's watching them being used on tv cowboy shows though.
There are pumping units all over, around the gulf coast, some active some not, but since you want water, not oil, I guess I will have to sneak onto private properties and look for a hand pump, NOT !!!

I thought all Texans were friendly, DON`T sneak onto their property. pull in and ask, (if you see a pump from the road ) , NICENESS ( if that`s a word goes a long way ) POLITENESS, I think is the word
Texans are friendly, but most older farm/ranch houses are out of view, often way out of view, from the road. The houses closer to the roads are normally newer homes, where hand pumps were never employed.
Someone will get this, and hopefully I can be a part of the new challenge. tp dd50

Gotcha.......I get that...around here 95% are just yard decorations, not actually functioning pumps,,,,,,,but they are around ( here at least)
guys, I wont cut this game short, but I have a 1999 Trans Am in the garage and a water pump, although non working, in a garden maybe 50 feet from that garage.
The intention is to ride to get the pic. Backing a car out of the garage or rolling the bike to the end of the driveway defeats the purpose of the game.
I could get the TA, pump and a Road Glide in the same frame and not leave home.

Ride the bike around a bit, return to take pics, ride a bit more, and return to post win. No defeating the purpose that way.
Mike, a picture to help prove Texans cherish their privacy. Enter at your own risk...
