Default Texas Evo Meetup Itinerary

A work in progress, but as we decide on things, I'll edit this top post.

We've decided on Medina Highpoint Resort as our base camp. You can certainly stay elsewhere if you like, but staying there makes it easier on you, I think. I still have a bed open in my bunkhouse. A 4 way split comes out just under $50 for both nights (Friday and Saturday).

Arrive Friday and have an informal gathering. There is a catfish dinner at the store at the campground that is pretty good. A few brews in the beer garden.... hopefully they have entertainment. They used to. Just a dude with a guitar, so don't expect much.

Saturday morning breakfast at the camp store. Early risers can take a ride up to Ingram for a photo op at Stonehenge II then ride 39 along the river through Hunt. Gorgeous ride. We'll turn south down 187 into Vanderpool and go to the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum. We can meet up there with anyone who didn't want to do the early ride. This ride segment is about 62 miles.

After the museum, we take RR 337 out of Vanderpool to Leakey and stop at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop for lunch and Souvenir shopping. (T shirt Opportunity). When we leave there, we continue on 337 to Camp Wood. This is officially the first of the Three Sisters. At Camp wood make sure everyone has enough fuel to make the circle, and turn north on 55. A few miles up the road at Barksdale, RR 335 splits off to the right and continues north. This is Sister number two, and follows the Nueces River. At Route 41 we turn East and take that to the last Sister, RR 336, which takes us back to Leakey. Head back to camp for dinner and a few cold ones before dusk sets in and the deer come out.

Sunday morning those interested can get an early start and ride the 23 miles to the Old Spanish Trail (OST) in Bandera for breakfast then disperse wherever it is we're heading. I'll be heading back to Austin, so if anyone wants to hit any places of interest along the way, Luckenbach, for instance, I'd be happy to take you.

That's about it.... Feel free to discuss!

They list the all you can eat catfish as 5-8, but I'd try not to roll in at the last minute. Might just get crumbs.

Thanks Outlaw. If running very late I'll grab a bite on the way

Here's a link to calculate your en-route weather. Choose Travel from the main drop down on the left and fill in start, destination, date and time of departure. Works best within a 7 day forecast. Currently shows, we may get wet. It's still pretty far out to forecast Texas weather though.

I hate saying this, but unless the forecast improves, I doubt we'll make it. Right now it's showing solid rain all the way there and all the way back. Here's Thursday...

Ugh.

Still a way off, and time for the forecast to improve.

We will hope for a positive change.
There forecast is for rain in the Kerrville area but fortunately it's 20 30%.

In rides gone by that figure has rarely been a problem. Visited friends and family there. Only went down there once that I'd say we got rained out. Most trips were in March April or May
