Default No More Dull Saggy Bags

I ordered the Saggy Bag system a couple of weeks ago and received it this past Friday.

Friday evening I started the install. I did one at a time so, it took 2 days to do.

Unfortunately for me, the leather on the tops were very stiff and dry. I didn't condition them before I installed the kit, (my bad) and the lids were so hard and stiff that 40lbs of weight on them didn't flatten them enough to glue down. I'll redo after a couple of condition treatment with linseed oil to soften up the leather.

Other than that, I'm very happy with the kit, it made my bags look 100% better.

Went out for a short 200 mile ride today and ended up at the Harley dealer. Remembered a thread from here about Harley's saddle bag "Rejuvenator" and the "Protectant". Bought both and went to work on the saddle bags.

Wow, this stuff is great. I put a good amount on the saddle bags, rubbed it in aggressively and instead of "wiping the excess off", I let it sit for a couple of hours.

Buffed it off and applied the "Protectant" and let it set. Wiped it off after about and hour or so and it still looks wet. No greasy feeling to the touch and it's not slippery. I'll let you know about that part tomorrow. LOL

Saddle bags looked so good, I decided to do the same to the seat, dash panel and sissy bar pad. It made a world of difference.

As I said, after wiping off after the final application, it is NOT slippery like Armour All is.

All in all, the actual application only took about 20 minutes total, wait time total, about 3 hours, results:

Did that same thing to mine when it was new. Never had an issue after 7 yrs of ownership and lots of rainy rides. Good kit.

I installed "Papa Bags" in my Heritage. Only took about 30 minutes, but mine were not saggy. It stretches the opening and supports the top edges. In my mind it's a really simple design and it's over-priced for what it is. I managed to buy it on ebay for $80 (new) from the list price ($119). Even at $80 it was over kill. I would estimate it doesn't cost more than $15-20 to manufacture. This was a preemptive strike, I always oil and condition leather seats in my Mustang and as soon as I bought the bike.

Nice. Got any pics of the install or of the braces inside the bags?

No. Tried to take pics but, black on black in a hole don't make for very good pictures.

My bags aren't too bad yet, but thinking about eventually doing saggy bags. Recently got some sno-seal (bee's wax) and heavily covered the bags with it.
It was really pasty on the bags at first, but now that it's getting hot, it's really soaking into the bags and they look and feel like new.
I doubt I'll have to reseal them until next summer.
