Default NJ to Mt. Washington

Hey all, I will be riding from NJ to Mt. Washington and was wondering if any have done the ride, if so any roads that you guys recommend on the way there and perhaps around Mt. Washington. I will be up there for 3 days. I will be leaving June 23rd if anyone wants to tag along for the ride up there.

Looking to go highway or byway ?
87 is nice and easy drive but basically boring.
209 is a nice ride but it meanders quite far east and west.

I think byway is probably what we are looking at. We have enough time to ride without being in a rush that I guess we can have options. Definitely excited for it. I'll take a look at 209

Yea it's usually 209 -> 32 and thatll get you to Albany. Then take 4 east across VT to 5. Then it's real back roads into the mountains

I have no input for "from NJ"...as we go from CT.

But when you're up there...there are many great roads to cruise. We go up at least once a year....going up in 7 weeks matter of fact.

When you're in the Conway area...everyone loves "The Kank". Officially..."Kancamagus Highway". While I like that road...there are much better areas, IMO.

Keep going north a bit...up 302, and then break off on 16 north. You'll see "Storyland" on the right side...look across the street there's an old house with a ton-a old stuff in the yard, and you'll usually see a couple of old Shovels 'n Pans there too.

We prefer staying up in the Jackson area, or Bartlett. One good affordable place is Nordic Lodge..ton-a private condo rentals up there via VRBO..or even the main site for Nordic. Or in the little town of Jackson...sorta across the street through the covered bridge, like Snowflake Inn.

Great place for food right in that area, Red Fox Bar 'n Grille. Good Irish pub nearby, The Shannon. South just a few minutes....Red Parka Steakhouse 'n Pub.

Back to great riding areas...basically any direction north/slightly east/slightly west from here. Some smaller backroads from Jackson. Or...stay on the main 16...(the way to Mt Washington)..it's a nice ride itself..you'll see 16 goes to where you can plan loops around Rt2, R3, head west a bit to where 302 would come in.Around 302...Carroll, Bethlehem. I love that area. Breaks a bit away from traffic. Quieter...more peaceful. Some nice valley areas and little traffic so you can get into a groove with the cadence coming from your pipes.

Heading west a tiny bit, head towards 93 south....up by Franconia..and where that notch is...very...very...very cool spot. Mind blowing for me.

Mt Washington itself....what can I say...there's no place more jaw dropping for me on the whole east coast. There's an old adirondeck style bench I love to sit in and ponder...walk like 10 oclock up to the left from the parking area..

I've done that ride. I would take route 7 through MA and VT, riding through the Green Mountains up to Rutland then route 4 East to route 91 North. And finally 116 to 112 east.
Should be a great ride, enjoy.

I did that from jersey to Mt Wash. We did it on sportster 72s and 48s. it was awesome! The 2.1 gallon tanks were great because it kept us getting off and stretching ever 70 miles.
