I currently have 2, the Bell Rouge and a full face from Harley that I think is made by Fulmer. I'm also looking at a new Bell Qualifier DLX full face as well. The Qualifier DLX comes with the transitions face shield, and has an integral mounting area for both the Sena and Cardo Bluetooth headset. The Rouge is great for lower speed/ around town type of riding, but when you air it out on the interstate, the sumbitch acts like a parachute and tries to pull your head off. The Harley full face seems to be very good bang for your buck, and I have no complaints with it.
Shark Evoline 3. Modular. Dual homologated. DOT approved in no the positions. Open and closed. Only Shark and Nolan carry that approval. The chin bar swings all the way back so it's a 3/4. And it's a FF. I run it closed 90% of the time. Visor open internal sunvisor down.
I have a Schuberth C3 Pro with the Bluetooth radio/intercom system that replaces the neck roll. I absolutely love this helmet. It has good airflow, the strap release is so much easier for me than the traditional D ring. The Pinlock visor does a great job keeping the visor from fogging up.
The Bluetooth system connects to FM and Bluetooth antennas that are embedded in the helmet body, so reception is good. And the phone/intercom are clear and usable at highway speeds.
Negatives are cost, but for what you get it was worth it to me.
I'm rocking the Simpson outlaw bandit. A little pricey but I'm very happy with it. No too heavy and is very comfortable. The only thing I don't like is you need a screwdriver to switch the shields out.
I also have a half helmet but I hate it. It always feels like the wind is going to take my head off when I'm wearing it. I don't know how people wear them.
The HD 3/4 is actually really comfortable and a good helmet. I would just prefer a full face helmet.

Your description of your half helmet sounds exactly like my Bell Rouge. At slower speeds it's fine, but at speed it's horrible.
