Everybody different. I don't get monkey butt but other things can make a trip uncomfortable. My Softail eliminates the insane butt soreness from purely sitting, other "men" discomforts and I'm ready to rock after a 250 mile ride. But for those who have these issues - the struggle is real.

The beads do help a lot ,air hawk sits you up too high and sheep shin helps but warms after awhile.

I use their boxers. Regular fit, nothing too tight. The material really helps wick moisture away. Also, they are sink-washable in hotel rooms, and will be completely dry in the morning if hung on the shower curtain rod. Same reason I wear wool socks

duluth trading co, boxers and firehose pants.

the boxers wick and hold everything in place

the firehose pants are great for comfort, no issues in rain and hold up well in dirt or oil situations.

easy to wash and hold their shape.

ive worn jeans for the 25 plus years ive been riding. these firehose pants are different and are my new choice for riding gear.

Thinking seriously about trying some type of pad. "Swamp Butt" is not what I'm experiencing. Just feels like heat or a burning sensation until numbness begins. Honestly if I were able to just ride 75-90 miles without too much discomfort I'd be happy. At a hundred miles I'm ready for an overall 5-10 minute break.
Thinking HD mesh or Pro-Pad. Also Alaska Leather Sheepskin could be an option.
Also, do the above Seat Pads have any ill effects, damage to the finish of the seat that they are placed upon?

Beads are awesome when its hot out. It lets the air circulate where it counts. The bead seats are about $30.

Go to walmart and get the ones for car seats. I cut it down so it fits my seat perfect. It was $12.

As for the OP topic, almost any of the sports style base layers will be better than regular cotton briefs.

Went out for a short 15 mile ride this morning cooler temps, only 72F. I noticed how much heat was being absorbed by the seat from the hot air below it.
Thought I would get out of the box and try to fab up a heat shield between the seat and the bike frame. Found a windshield sun screen that was sitting on a shelf that I never used. I cut out a piece that fit under the seat small enough that it would not show with the seat in place. Gorilla taped the edges.
Started raining before I could test to see if if helps or not.
Please if for some reason anyone thinks this might be a bad idea, by all means please chime in.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a dry day to give it a test drive. Wish I had a temperature gun, that would give a clear answer if it helps or not.
(most likely this been done before and proved that lower seat temperatures were not recorded) ?????
Also thought abut just foil taping the bottom of the seat, but the barrier with some air on either side of it made more sense to me.
