I was looking at the Polk MM652s on the Crutchfield site doing a comparison with the Alpine R-65s and the Alpine are a quarter inch shallower mounting depth. I'm not sure if it's apples to apples comparison in sound but I am curious to know if anyone knows.
I Don't have a set of wet lowers to test fit it, never needed lowers for speakers.
Don't know on a comparison as it appears I'm the guinea pig for them but I'm holding out high hopes. If they're close to the mm651, and even better per website and specs, then they sound sound phenomenal.
Got the today and installed. Initial thought was "damn these are light". They're installed now in a 2014 FLHTKSE tourpack crossed at 80 (JL TWK DSP) and about 125 watts.
They would fit the pods no problem if you don't have the rear passenger control buttons on the right pod, so I ended up using a set of 1/2" metro spacers.
Keep in mind I removed a set of focal krc165 and these were put in their place.
Holy crap, they sound phenomenal!! After a little bit of DSP tweaking the vocals are amazing from these speakers. Tourpack closed they have a very warm tone and adequate enough low end to thump a little. They are tuned for mids (vocals) and highs and man do they sing. I'm going to try to break them in this weekend and I will upload a video but on a comparison note, if these break in like I think they will, then they will stay in the tp.
The video below is a quick test of them. That's ONLY the two polks playing at about 1/2 volume.
Lol, yea no **** they are ugly but man do they sound good back there.
They have that stupid looking cutout in the grills so I rotated the install enough to try an "hide" them, didn't work.. lol...
I will end up painting them black. If the tweeter wasn't so far forward of the woofer I could use a standard set of covers.
Now that's R&D at it's finest!! Thank you Tesnevo for bringing another set of quality speakers to the rear pods! I've been the guinea pig for so many speakers it's nice to hand off the baton every now and then! Thanks man!
Just making sure you realized that. With you being down there close to Alex were never too sure what the next "Miami" speaker integration will be, lol...

Well I have 6900 on my fairing now.
I want to see how these compare to them.
