I took my wife on her first overnight trip and we went through Telluride. Before we left I bought an old style paper map so she could get the full experience.

I'm getting a download at the dealer for the Nav today. We'll see if that helps.

Just FYI.. this is something that you can easily do yourself. I got my bike 3 weeks ago and was surprised to find that I did not have the latest version. I updated yesterday.. It took about 30 minutes (most of that time was just waiting.. doing other stuff while software was coping, installing, etc.)

http://www.harley-davidson.com/conte...downloads.html

The description of the update did not mention any of the issues I was having. But I cannot find a chronology of the update release notes (I do not know if I was 1 version, or 4 versions, behind. I had the installed and latest version numbers, but I don't know if any came between or what they may have addressed.) I won't have an opportunity to go on a ride for a few days, so I won't know if this helped until then.

I believe each function, i.e. radio, nav, CB have their own separate volume that you need to adjust while using each function.

2017 CVO Limited - I had a case where the map on the GPS just disappeared. I was not actively using the GPS for directions but just had the map up and running. Some of the display was still there but not the actual map. A little hard to see in the picture but.....I had to turn the bike completely off before it came back. Just turning off the boom and back on did not work. All other screens were fine, radio, info, etc....

Just wanted to through that out there.

I have figured out what I was doing wrong, it was all while using online routing tools to create GPX files.

1. Do not use your actual starting point as the starting point. This was already mentioned in the thread, it confuses the routing. I now use the first actual road I want to hit as the start.

2. Zoom in (using the online tool) and make sure you drop your waypoint precisely on the road you want it on. My "around the block" problem and "dual direction" arrows were both caused because the waypoint, entered while zoomed way out, was actually a block away. I didn't notice because I was in the habit of skipping waypoints before I got to them because of #1.

I also added a helmet headphone jack to my bike, and got the Harley, in helmet headset so I can hear the prompts AND hear my phone when it rings.

This system does work well as advertised! The ability to use pre-planned 'scenic' routes without having to mount a Garmin on the handlebars, was one of my considerations when choosing this bike over a less expensive alternative, even though that would have been cheaper. I made the right decision! (I also love the Reflex linked brakes.. which I know should never be needed when using proper braking technique -- but people don't die using proper technique -- it is when they get caught off guard -- and that is when RL brakes can save your life).

Just a guess - based on the MOCO's general design expertise.
And yet you keep buying them!

16 Limited, GPS works ok. A bit clunkier than a portable garmin, but not bad. Boom bx gps couldnt find the Harley Store in Red Lodge Mt even after dealer location update - they might be moving so that couldve been the new location it saw, so not really its fault maybe..... In Canada heading north on 93 from Montana at the 93 to hwy 3 intersection it thought Fernie BC was a lh turn west when its really a rh turn to the east. On trips thru Montana to Logans pass it cant find St Marys MT. Didnt need to know how to get there but I punched it in to see as I like to keep track of ETA cause im mental ....

Worst thing about the Boom GPS is the $ to update it. Once we convert US to Can$ its close to $187.00..... Holy _hit give me a break. (a few months ago it was just shy of $200.00)

I have two new high end vehicles, neither of which came with a manual the size of a the yellow pages... You know the system wont be simple to understand and configure when it's manual is bigger than the bikes manual. It also comes with a DVD. That say's a lot.

I've used Butler motorcycle maps for years, if you wanna know the fun scenic roads for riding then you buy Butler, it's designed for guys like us that love twisties.
