So many great roads and so little time!!!! I have a few must do's but trying to put together a route or loop is very difficult for some reason. The slow speed limits really complicate planning this.
Are six 400-500 mile days possible out there? That's what I'm coming up with doing my route planning and have serious doubts this can be done with traffic and speed limits. Would like to get back to the cabin before dark. Durango Million Dollar Highway are out unfortunately as that would be 1,000 miles round trip. Maybe next time.
400 mile days are possible, barely. Even in the middle of the week you'll run into traffic issues, some from the locals and some from flatlanders that don't know how to drive in the mountains.
As of right now I have a day planned to go to Aspen (Independence Pass), another day going to MT Evans, another going to Pikes Peak, Another going to Steamboat Springs and Berthoud Pass ( both ways) via RMNP, and of course a day to do RMNP. My shortest day will be doing the Park loop but will also try to do a couple of the other roads listed (Rist Canyon & Horsetooth) as must do's in the park also if possible. I currently have one day with no ride planned as a backup for bad weather days. Peak to Peak will be my North-south route several days. Good 400+ just about everyday. I'm still working and tuning my routes so things will change a little.

We are headed out their right now. Our base is Granby and I am figuring 400 for the longest days based. On riding the smokes.
400 is really pushing it in the Smokies, that's kinda why I decided I better ask here!!!! Something tells me the Rockies are even worse and more crowded. My plans may be a little too ambitious but I don't know when if ever I will get back out there.
A big issue is on several of my routes is I will be doubling back the same way I came instead of seeing something new each way. That's what I have to work on changing!!!! If I weren't in need of getting back to Estes each night I could easily cover just about the whole state!!!!
Really struggling to get this trip planned and extremely worried the weather won't cooperate while I'm there. Watching these live cams the past few days has not been very inviting as the monsoon season appears to be in full force currently. Also had to order a new full face helmet since a 150 mile ride this weekend in mine that I haven't worn much the past few years proved to now be too tight in the cheeks to the point I could not open my mouth without biting my cheeks when I closed my mouth. https://www.nps.gov/romo/learn/photo...ia/webcams.htm
Dont sweat the weather. The forcast will show rain everyday. It usually only last a little while. When we were there same time two years ago, we never saw one drop of rain
