The 2018's are being show-cased at Sturgis. So, they are already out there. For one who owns and rides a stock 1970 FLH Shovel and also owns and rides a 2017 FLHTCU M8, I can tell you the difference between the bikes in performance, power, handling, reliability,etc. is stark. There is no comparison other than styling which I happen to enjoy.
As for prices on these machines coming down; you've got to be dreaming. EPA regs, R&D, manufacturing, labor, material, shipping, keeping dealers in business, etc. Harley is not a listed charitable 401c Corp. as far as I know and has an obligation to its employees and share holders. I know many Europeans who come here to vacation and buy a Harley here to ride and then ship them back to Europe after their vacation. Why? They would pay 2x as much for the bike in Europe. Cheaper to import to their country as used. I think we got a good deal.
Just received a flyer from Barb's Harley the 2018's and HD Demo truck will be at her place August 26th and 27th. Ad claims she will be the first Harley Dealer in the states to have the full fleet available for demo!
Is the rumour of new frame in 2018 still the case? I think the Dyna and Softail will share the same frame design but with different swing arms or something along those lines. I think the MoCo refer to them as Common Core...
