In what year did they "fix" the cam chain tensioner issue??
Dyna Glide ModelsSuper Glide, Super Glide Sport, Super Glide Custom, Dyna Glide Convertible, Super Glide T-Sport, Dyna Glide Police, Dyna Switchback, Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob and Wide Glide.
I replaced my shoes with the CYCO ones at around 15k miles. added a baisley spring while I was in there and new cam bearings. the old shoes didn't look too bad. but they say shoe life can vary. you can pull the cam cover off, look at the one, and get a dentist mirror and check the back one. you can upgrade to the hydraulic setup or gears.
the softails have a counterbalanced engine because they are bolted right to the frame without having rubber engine mounts to absorb vibration.
I won't be able to give you long-term results for a few years, but the design made sense to me. They did require a little bit of clearancing inside the cam cover, but that took about five minutes with a Dremel.
Thanks for the product tip. I'll have to check that out. Any others people would recommend?
I'm also gonna check out the M8 engines and see if they will be hitting either lineup anytime soon. I like the rumble of the engine and apparently the Dyna motors are only parting balanced which may help with the seat issue I had.
No doubt...gears fix the issue by totally eliminating it. Even in modern cages, the first thing to go are the tensioners. The ONLY down side to gears are getting a crank that is straight to install them.
