First and foremost! Happy wife, Happy life! My wife loves the comfort of the tour pak on the 2017 RGU. I had the 2011 RGU previously and she loved it as well. Make her comfortable and she will do as mine does and jump on and be ready for any trips on the bike. So what ever you decide is always the right choice as long as she is comfortable and happy with her seating arrangements. Road Hog out......

I like the new BLM edition, or special as Harley calls it. I mean it's cool they have the peace officer one, the firefighter one, and now a black lives matter one.

Well just giving an update and solved my dilemma... just put a deposit on a black Road Glide Special. Got dibs on the first one in my area.

Congrats. At least you picked the right color. Great bike. Enjoy it and post what you think after some miles. That could be my next bike when I get older. My best advice is don't park close to a Road King. They tend to suck the coolness out of the parking lot!!!

I test rode a 2017 Road King, Street Glide, and a Road Glide before deciding on the Road Glide I call "Big Orange." The beast is equipped with a 1.5 inch lowered seat and a Chopped Tour Pack. It is by far the heaviest bike I've owned after having more Harley Davidson motorcycles than I can remember. I chose the Road Glide because I liked how the frame attached fairing felt better in low speed parking lot situations. In contrast, the Bat Wing on the Street Glide made its presence known to a greater extent at low speeds because the weight of the fairing rested on the handle bars rather than the frame. Of course, the Road King handled low speed situations the best of the three but after the test ride I knew I wanted the extra weather protection of a full fairing. My wife has a Sportster 1200 with hard bags that I can ride around town any time I want but I actually prefer the big Glide, even on short trips. As far as longer, highway runs are concerned, "Big Orange" pulls like a freight train and handles beautifully. All things considered, it is by far the best Harley I've owned and I can't imagine owning anything else, especially because I've added a cool third brake light.

Not that it matters to you anymore because you made your choice. But for me it was the Road King Special all the way. I hate farings. Cant stand the extra weight on the front end just to have a radio. The nice thing about detachable windshields on the Road King you can buy different sizes to fit your needs and combat wind buffeting. For me the new Road King Special was a great compromise from being a Softail lover to wanting a Touring model. Still has the clean beautiful front end that i love.
