Default Adding Hardbags to the Heritage.

The parts were ordered, (all eBay aftermarket) just waiting for the bags to arrive- should be here this week. Hoping I won't have to do to much modification since it's all repop stuff.

The bags and latch kit are from Matazu (I've had good luck with their products) and the mounts are from egobike (new one to me)

I will post updates on this thread, as I get things started

Here are some pics of what I bought.

A quick search for "Hardbags on a Heritage" (or Softail), result in many posts relevant to what you are trying to do. There may be some information in those posts that save you a bit of time, and give you some ideas. Good luck with your project, and looking forward to pictures of the end result.

Just be advised I had issues with the left bag hitting the axle shaft on my wife’s 16. Now her bike is lowered but was told that should not of made a difference. When you do install make sure to travel the suspension completely and check for clearance before you ride.

what year is your Heritage?

The Big brown truck brought the bags yesterday.

It took about an hour and a half to assemble the latches, and get them onto the bags. The one thing is the right bag was in the box upside down, and was not wrapped, to the clear on the lid has some mild surface scratches on it. - I'm not to concerned with that since I will be painting them this winter. - for the time being, I will just see what I can do with a light compound.

I was expecting the hardware kit to have the rubber grommets that the pins go into, but it didn't. so I need to wait for the ones last night to come in. - Hoping I have something around the garage to temporarily use so I can get them mounted up now.

Figured I would start with the right side since I was worried about clearance. With the V&H slip Ons it is tight, hoping I dot get a rattle. Thinking about putting some pipe insulation between the bottom support and the slip on, just not sure if it would melt. With the shorty turn signal bar and the bullet signals, it is also a tight fit, but they don’t touch.

Anyhow, one side is on, I’ll tackle the other side tomorrow after work. So far so good, and liking the look.

Don’t mind the messy garage, too many projects going on, LOL

Looking good. How much did every thing cost you total? Including the turn signal relocation. I plan on doing this to my heritage as well.

Looking good, I found some new style (Rushmore) bags painted & striped in the same color as mine.
I need to find out if they will fit as well as the older style hard bags do...

You need a brace between the bag mounts on the backside or the bags are going to bounce up and down while riding.
