I was thinking about ordering 5 different seat combinations from HD, taking a bunch of pictures for everybody here, and then just pick the one I like best and return the others. Anybody ever done a massive return with the HD online store and if so, did they flip you any stuff?

Parts have started to trickle in for me. I was able to get the Holdfast Docking Hardware Kit, $49.95, p/n 52300376 and HoldFast Sissy Bar (chrome, std height), $199.95, p/n 52300437 at my local dealership. My seats are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, hopefully I'll have some time after work to put them on. My dealer had a few more hardware kits available but I got the last standard sized sissy bar, they said it was on back order until December. Last I checked neither of these parts were available online at HD.

The installation was fairly straight forward. You'll need a T45 torx bit, torque wrench, and locktite for the hardware installation, the sissy bar doesn't require anything special at it just snaps in. I had to add a spacer to the back right mounting bolt (in addition to the ones included by HD) to get the sissy bar to fit. Here are my crappy phone camera pictures taken with the meager light provided by my garage overhead lights and tropical storm Nate.

Thanks Mike! You unwittingly responded to my request in a thread I started to see various sissy bars for the '18 FatBoy. I'm really starting to like the standard height one pictured on your very good looking bike. Thanks again!

p.s.: From the looks of your pegboard Mike, you must do a lot of hedge trimming...

Thanks, I should have the standard backrest installed tomorrow. I also ordered the Hammock touring seat, and the Reach and Sundowner seats in both Fatboy and Breakout styling.

As far as saddlebags go you can go the route of using easy brackets for the mounts and go with what ever saddlebags you want on the bike. The spacing for the easy bracket mounts are the same distance as previous year models. I order the 2017 Fat Boy easy brackets for the bike and some saddlebags I liked from Dennis Kirks. The mounts work fine on the 2018 fat boy. The brackets are quick release as it only takes a turn of the key to release the lock so you can pull the bags off. The only hardware left on the bike are the two post on the fender rail.

Unfortunately I am coming over from the Dyna so all the parts I have left over from those bikes will not work on the Fat Boy.

I did notice that there was a hole for a seat screw between the two Frankenstein connectors on the stock seat. Before seeing that I thought our options for seat were limited to the HD one that had the two mounting locations. It looks like we just need to find out if previous year model seat will still work on the 18s and that would could be a big game changer if they did.

Here is what I have so far on mine:

1. As Gee mentioned, I have the 2018 Easy Bracket from greatbikegear.com. I helped the guy there create one for the 2018... I got one, but not sure if it was just a verification of the 2017 version or not. Either way, it works.

2. I installed the rear turn signal relocation kit, so I can put on a longer saddlebag.

3. I have the stock windscreen. I like it so far. That square headlight makes other brands not fit without modification.

4. I put on the harley chrome fang style wind deflectors on the forks. Had to drill one hole to make it work. Huge difference in turbulence.

5. I put on a pair of saddlebags I had around from my wife's Indian Scout. They seem better than I expected, but I still don't quite like them on this bike. But, they do give me "someplace" to put my registration and a lock or two for helmets and jackets when I stop. Here is a pic before the fangs and windscreen. I don't have one of that yet.

PS. I also want a new seat, really dislike this one. I'm also thinking of the hammock with a driver backrest, but it is about the end of the riding season here, so I'll see what comes out over the Winter.

As others have written, not a fan of the looks of the Corbin. I have had 3 of them in the past and they all got sold quickly... wasn't a fan of the seat comfort either, but I know others love them.
