We're it me, I'd do what it takes to get rid of all the liner. You might want to fab up a sheet metal plate to bolt in place to seal the top of the tank and have at with the nuts, bolts and BBs again.

Another small update.
While I'm waiting for parts, I figured I'd start working in shining up the bike. This poor thing was so neglected. The chrome was also starting to pit, so it was time for some steel wool.

Only use grade 0000. It takes a little longer but the risk of scratching the paint or even some metal bits is way less.

Getting very close to being able to try starting the bike!

I was able to source a complete fuel delivery part on eBay and it arrived today. It looks to be in excellent condition. One question though: I'll be needing to replace the main fuel delivery tube with a new one which I've already ordered. Am I able to replace the clamp that is circled in the picture below with a standard ring hose clamp?

I replaced both hoses in my tank with black submersible fuel injection line available at Napa etc. I used spring clamps. I had to grind the bottom one that joins the line to the quick connect at the bottom of the tank. No issues and it's way more durable than the plastic stuff that comes factory and typically develops pinholes.

Along with the fuel supply parts, the battery came today! How exciting! Let's see if the electrical system is functional.

Okay, this looks like a good sign!

Oh yeah. We've got power! And the power came with some great news: this bike only has 9600 miles on it? This may not be as bad as I thought...

Also, over the last few days, I changed all the fluids in the bike. The cylinders have received periodic soaking with PB Blaster and they seem to be moving quite freely. Getting close now!

Okay, I'm going to try the screw type clamps for now since they are easily purchased (and you don't need a special tool to install them)

Yeah, the OEM hose material seems crappy at best. I ordered a new Quick Disconnect from Drag Specialties and it came with one new hose attached already. The other OEM hose looks serviceable for now. I'll look into the fuel injection line for the future...

Welcome aboard. After seeing the odometer turn on, I instantly became way less depressed about this bike
