Hmm, maybe you're new to buying used parts from a junk yard type setting like Robs used parts.....ordering over the internet is tough when it comes to this type of purchase. Did you request a photo of the parts he was selling you before you made the purchase? That is always a smart thing to do with such a purchase. Also, you should have been very clear with what you needed and what he was selling you. You're upset because he didn't tell you it was 950 plus shipping? That's your responsibility, especially when just giving someone your card number to charge! Seems like a lot of "new" internet buyer mistakes made here.

I've been burnt once or twice with junkyards selling me parts over the internet that didn't meet my requirements. I've learned from my mistakes and now I won't make the sale without a picture of the actual item and an explanation of what my money is buying. Live and learn, ride on.

Did you request a photo of the parts he was selling you before you made the purchase? Excellent advice.

Yup, definitely my fault for assuming that if I were going to buy something like the radio, it would also come with the volume ****.

Welcome to the forum, Rob, but this post is a year and half old. Might have been better just to let it sink to the bottom of the forum, not raise it from the dead.

Is a handle bar cover part of an inner fairing? I'd guess most parts men would say no, it's a handle bar cover. It's part number 16.

If there was no prior agreement re shipping, how could he be upset about it?

Sounds like someone was angling for a discount, didn't get it, and wanted to go damage the shop's business on the internet.

I purchased a exhaust system and heat shields from Rob ... when they arrived I was missing one heat shield ... a phone call and he sent out the missing shield right away, no questions ... I would buy from him again and have no trouble sending friends to him as well ...

When I called him back the conversation was hey, I recently bought an inner and outer fairing, and all the guages. You are missing a piece of the inner fairing. He said that he doesn't have any of those. I said well isn't that part of the inner fairing, he says yes. So I say well if you agree to sell me the inner fairing, which has a removable piece which you also agree is part of the fairing, how could justifiably sell me this while it is missing that piece and all he says is sorry can't help you
Welp...reckon you won't be buying from him again...

I have bought from Rob and will again if I need to.

Good source for hard to find parts. (older bikes)
I even bought two sets of Heated Harley grips that were opened. Both sets had all of the parts (imagine that) in the package..........

To the OP:

Get the HD p/n for that handlebar cover. Then google it and see what's out there. Also, head over to your friendly local HD dealer and ask the parts guy to look that p/n up to see if he has it in stock. If he doesn't, he can search all HD dealers in the Country to find one then have it shipped to you. DON"T tell the parts guy what the part is for. Tell him you don't know you just need the part. Otherwise, when they hear EVO they will automatically tell you they don't have parts for bikes that old and send you to the sales dept. for a new bike.

Don't laugh. I did this a couple of years ago for an obscure part for the carb on my ironhead. The parts lady found it about 75 miles away and it was in my sweaty palms in 4 days for the grand total of $1.75. That little tiny part had been sitting on the shelf for about 40 years.

Post a request for the part in the EVO section of this forum. One of those guys might have one.
