The Japanese have been making single case units since the before time... 6 speeds started coming out in the late 70's... The tech is pushing 50 years old now...
My Evolution power-plant on my Sporty is WAY heavier and bigger then any other Power-plant I've had housed in my other motorcycles... (Minus the VTX1800)
They could have done some tweaking to make it work...
But I get it, it's a Harley... I don't really mind the 5-speed, the gearing is done pretty damn well but for an XR1200 I'd expect a 6-speed close ratio transmission.
Shhhhhh nobody is suppose to know yet. I'm not holding out I just want to be confident that it is going to work.
We are getting really close to a trap door style gearset for the 04 and later sportsters.
If everything goes as planned a 6 speed will follow.
I just hopped over to your site! Some great products you guys carry!
A 6th gear or OD being available to my XR would be pisser!
I have an aftermarket Gear indicator, would it show the 6th gear or work at all?
Indians (the people) in America are part of the American Market if they buy a Harley, not India. HD has a 60% MS in India of the 600+cc motorcycle market. BUT that resulted in less than 2500 HD motorcycles sold in the entire year across a population of 1 BILLION PEOPLE. India is a completely irrelevant market to HD and will remain so for the foreseeable future given the minimal level of economic resources in India.
Big cumbersome motorcycles? True.
