Hey Rowan , I've got one just like that . Haven't put it on yet.
Congrats, mounting it was a little frustrating, I originally was going HD but for 60.00+ dollars I figured why not.
I bought the Bungking brackets for the 18 softail originally but with the TCMT fairing, I did not need it except for the headlight mounting bracket and bolts For the HD 49mm QR clamps, I found my headlight does not fit into the fairing so I have the headlight mounted up to it, as at the time I did not wish to remove the headlight ring works well so far but I need to get a longish ride in to test it.
I let it eat. Rode in with a group of guys to drop off toys for a toy drive. Mostly dynas, a couple sporties, and a bagger. So fun smacking them down with the 124.
Thanks Rowan , I have a Custom mounting Idea , so I'll see if that works .
dennyo,
Fairing adjustment
This is the Inside pics of the fairing, with the fairing pushed out and up, bottom is pushed in, pic on right shows., Upper mounting points and gap with headlight ring. With it set like this I get a little bit of a buzzy high pitch rattle rolling through the gears when cruising it disappears also at highway speeds
Smooth no rattle or buzz.
Disregard the chrome brackets at bottom of pic, I have not removed them as those are for my windvest
And do not interfere with the fairing
Taking the newly acquired Crossbones into the shop for a new closer to the tank seat , modifying the rear brake pedal . Having the welding shop cut it in half and then having the local welding shop weld it back up to fit me. (fused right ankle) .
Getting a kickstand (jiffy stand according to harley) extension.
Getting an angled air cleaner so my knee will clear the air cleaner so I can actually reach the rear brake pedal.
Maybe investing in a set of progressive shocks. (cant afford the shotgun or Arnott air shock systems . Wish I could).
The bike already has pipes , bars and a fender rack. I have no idea what kind of tuner system it has . Id love to cam the 96cubic inch motor someday. I have heard this motor in the softails is not quite the mover it is in the dynas . At this point I have had my hot rod screamers , I am just looking for a smooth fun ride I can cruise at 80 MPH all day on and have great passing power when I need it.
Nice to buy a bike and have it half completed already. I am at the age I just want to ride as much as I can while I can. Crossbones is my 2nd favorite looking harley . My first is a 2007 Heritage Springer Classic. I have had sportsters , dynas, a heritage, a trike, and now this . If I can keep it on the road and its not stolen or God forbid wrecked, I hope to keep this bike on the road for a very long time. Any reasonable comfort tips, go fast tips etc are appreciated . Its all new to me again.
Sunset on the Silver Strand tonight...about 20 minutes before the sun went down.
Could not ask for a more perfect weekend in Dec.... 75 degrees during the day.
Im still in physical therapy, waiting on spring here in MT..
Man I love this bike. If I had not already just bought a crossbones seeing this would have made me start looking. I would move back to the desert, I loved Tucson but I have a lady in semi poor health who can not leave Montana. .Since she is the other light of my life I will endure the cold. Thanks for the awesome picture. Helps those of us who can not ride right now looking forward.
