Bob and Cheryl get an all expenses paid road trip to the Black Hills
Thank you sir!
The Boar's Nest in Lead (pronounced 'Leed" apparently). It's a pretty cool, eclectic mix of stuff with wheels.
I used to have one like this.
They had stuff all over. It was clear a lot of work went into it. No Colors!
The inside was pretty cool too.
The guy with the guitar was doing a pretty decent Roy Orbison tribute.
The one downside was no hard liquor. I didn't mind having a beer, but Cheryl had to settle for a little bottle of wine. This pretty much sums up her feelings on that matter.
I told her her face will freeze like that one day. Or at the very least, I would put the pic online so she better smile.
This is our favorite place to stop when we are in the Black Hills!

If you search like this -
We have a few more. Unfortunately the pics expired. Before I could edit them back in HDF shut down editing capability, so that sucks.
I had a meeting early Monday morning, so the plan was for Cheryl to organize while I attended said meeting. We would check out and head towards home via the Badlands.
The meeting went well, with no delays - always a bonus. Honestly, this whole trip was 8 days for maybe 2 hours worth of face time with the client. That's pretty much how it always goes - drive (or in this case ride) for hundreds of miles, chat for maybe an hour, and leave. I actually like that and this year endeavor to use the bike more often.
I stopped by the Sturgis Coffee Co and loaded two underfilled cups of joe into the side bags. Past experience told me I had a 50/50 chance of getting them back to the room intact. Luck was with me that day and I brought the hot coffee to Cheryl who had already gotten herself ready to ride and all our bags packed. Pretty and efficient! Plus she knows her way around the kitchen so she's a keeper.

It was a beautiful Monday morning. Temps in the upper 70s and late enough that we were able to avoid the morning rush from Sturgis to Rapid City. After all the twisty hilly riding we had done it was nice to bring the bike up to speed, set the cruise, and let it roll.
Leaving Sturgis - Black Hills National Cemetery.
While not the impact of the Black Hills, the open prairie makes for a pleasing back drop when riding on a beautiful June day.
We came upon the Wall Drug exit. We hadn't planned on stopping in but figured, what the heck. Neither of us have ever been there. Usually when going through the Badlands I take the "scenic" route entering on Sage Creek Rd, which is gravel. We had to make some time to get halfway home so we pushed the "easy" button and just took the paved road in.
It was starting to get hot by the time we parked the bike. You all know how that is, it feels comfortable out until you pull into a parking lot. Them all of a sudden it's HOT. We tried to find a shady spot for the bike to no avail, and then did the usual parking lot striptease to jettison the riding gear. I will say, Cheryl looks a lot better pulling off a pair of chaps than I do.
We walked through what boils down to be a tourist strip mall that has pretty much anything you want. In our case it was a light lunch, some new ear plugs, water, and Gatoraide. We did get the obligatory Wall Drug stickers for our helmets too.
To be continued.....
