2 of the nest looking springers I’ve ever seen. When did you get the 05? Nice! What are you going to do to it?

That's the Works Performance front shock. Gas & oil filled and two way dampening. I heard they went out of business. I need to find one for my 05.

Hey Ben,

I found the 05 down in FL, near Miami. It's carb'd. Has a Mikuni HSR42. I got some ideas for it, but it'll be a while before I do anything but make it road worthy. It needs a voltage regulator right now. Got one coming from Boardtracker. I just finished the 98 Heritage Classic. Besides, I'm to busy watching what Jimbo is doing to his 05. Are you finished with the 07 or do you got some more to do?

Glad to see all the springers still around. Do you think HD will ever bring the springer back? Why do you think they stopped making them?

Why they stopped...something to do with not being compatible with ABS. Don't see it ever coming back...especially with sales in the toilet and getting worse. They're going after the younger generation now with the new "metric" clones they're putting out...who aren't interested in nostalgic. It's the new AMF years all over again.

Don't care if they ever bring it back. I've got mine. Won't be buying another new Harley anyway.

^^^ I don't see them returning either. I think the discontinuance of the Springer models has a lot to do with economics. I watched them make spring forks at the York factory in '01. Quite a process. Lot's of (skilled) labor going into forming, welding and polishing the pieces. When I compare that cost versus taking a Japanese fork out of a box it's easy to see why they cost more. In '02 my HSS cost $1700 (plus a windshield, sissy bar and back pad) more than a comparable paint HSC.

I think they could probably work out the technical challenges of the brakes and make something like a CVO deluxe with a springer. Cost seems to be less of an issue with CVO models. That's about the only way I see them coming back.
