I know an owner of a Harley dealership here in PA and he told me a few things about what is to come . More than just the closure of the Missouri plant but production will be scaled back more than ever in the past . Harley knows that there is a huge inventory of good used bikes . More lay-offs for employees and replaced by temps . Going ahead with the overseas factories and more Harely parts will be out sourced with non USA made parts . Also a little side note, the big change to the Sporster line-up will be a smaller and stiffer frame that has a lower center of gravity making the bike easier to ride . Hold onto your almost American made Harley .
Their is no way that anyone outside of the HD Sr. leadership would know what Harleys long term strategic plans are. Its opinion only. And like an a$$hole, everyone has one, and this dealer friends stinks.
Read the HD income statements. They are not having a profitability issue. They are seeing declining revenue.
A lighter lower center of gravity Sportster would be cool. Cutting back on production is a no brainer. Most of the younger kids today don't have much interest in 2 wheels, even Bicycles. They get all the excitement they want from there games and phones now. I think it's sad. I see this every day.

Agree. I learned on a sportster 1200 and they are top heavy. A more lower center gravity would be great for new riders, or for that matter, all riders that like sportsters.
Cutting back production across the board I agree with as well. better to cut back than to totally close.
