My dealer told me that you now can fix only the half of the ABS module that failed. It should now be a $300 repair he said. Has anyone else been told this?
I can't find the thread, but last year a forum member was able to get his dealer to sell him just the hydraulic unit (40649-08) and he fixed it himself. I hope this becomes a trend. I would feel better about my ABS if I knew I could fix it for $300-$400.

They're shown as two separate parts, so I don't know why you couldn't replace one or the other, depending on which one failed. If some dealers are not selling them separately, you can always try another dealer or buy online.

The online dealers (surdyke/boardtracker) don't sell the part.
Thanks. FWIW most people will probably need the hydraulic unit which is 40649-08. I haven't heard of too many cases of the ECU going out.
I just checked surdyke and I'm able to add 40649-08 to my cart for $370. And like you said, who knows if they ship it.
The 40649-08 is actually the electronic controller, which is not what is failing. The part that is failing is the modulator assembly showing above in my cart.

Dang, you're right. I looked at that diagram 10 times and I still transposed the part numbers.
