Default Where did you hide this wiring mess

Dyna is relatively new to me and i noticed the previous owner left a wiring mess in front of gas tank by triple trees. Where do you tuck this in? Between tank? under dash? Does this look normal otherwise, if not tucked away?
Thanks for any feedback

I see a speedo harness headlight harness and looks to be turn signal wiring. Looks normal to me lol I do know they make neck covers to hide all that mess

Most of it gets stuffed into the backbone. A few inches remains visible but not THAT much. All the connectors should be hidden.

You should be able to see where they exit the backbone under the seat. Pull there while pushing at the neck end.

+1 on all the connectors should be in the backbone and should be accessing them under the backbone in the area above the front rocker cover.

Only enough of the actual harness should be visible and have enough slack to turn the bars end-to-end.

On the 2006 and later models there's a cover (#25) in the below view that will give you some more access to pull the harness in, but I'm not sure on the earlier models.

Easiest way to clean up what you have, disconnect all of the connectors, untangle the bundles, connect one at a time and feed one bundle at a time into the frame openings (#10), then tie wrap the bundles together that are outside the frame.

If you want to go a little further, removing all of the sleeving and combine all of the wires into a single braided sleeve will cut down on the overall diameter of the bundle, info in the link below.

That's pretty cool. The 99-05 frames don't have that access panel. On ours, the backbone is solid tube from the neck casting back. The gusset is just a U channel welded to it.

I ran into this problem when I put on 18" apes. At first I couldn't get the wiring out. The tube is too small and the plugs are too big. It took me a few hours to figure the plugs were binding on something. Then, I could not get the harness back in. I had to pull the rear tire, take off a rubber cover in the fender and pull it from the back. It was a bitch and I never got the whole thing. It's better than your pictures, but not great either. It's the stupidest design idea for wiring. Just putting the rubber cover back in the hole took me a half hour.

yeah that's a terrible design flaw. I tried to push the excess wiring back in that top rail hole with a rounded metal rod hoping i wouldn't break any wires in the process. I got some of the wiring back in but the connectors are another problem. I might try to tackle this when i change the rear tire.

So if you pull the access panel (#25) do you gain access to the wire harness from below? I just finished fighting all of the harnesses back into the neck but it was such a tight fit I couldn't get the grommet back into the frame on the left side. Maybe I can straighten it out a little from the bottom side?

Remove the tank and re-route/tuck everything neatly away...best method to allow working space...IMO.
