I can't imagine anyone cutting the strap. Wouldn't that
make the helmet no good?
Anyways, I did fix my noise issue. The face shield was driving me nuts.
It was always, open it, close it, open it. Leave it just cracked open,
I just took the stupid thing off. No more problem. No more echo when it's
closed.
That HJC is a VERY comfortable helmet

That's what I always thought. But after an accident, relatively minor except that the first responder cut the strap to remove my helmet, I was informed by the guy at an accessory shop that he sold something used to replace the strap. Although he offered to fix it for me I got a new helmet anyway. It also had a scratched face shield and a few minor scratches on the chin bar.
I'd wear one if I could find a solution to an eyeglasses frame being compatible with the helmet. So far no luck, but then again I haven't tried very hard. I like my daily glasses, but what I've found when trying on helmets with glasses it's just more layers of vision problems with the frames, visors, sides of the helmet periphery, etc.
It's a fact that over the years no matter what the ride is you are seeing more full face. I have been using ff for several years and would never go back. Yes, they do get hot but if u buy one that has good venting and visor adjustment they work well. Also cut down on outside noise tremendously.
is there a full face helmet that is conducive to long oval heads?
I don't remember which is which, but among the high-end helmets, Shoei and Arai are specific to oral and round. I believe it the Arai's that fit ovals best.
Shoei fits me well for that. I got the thin cheek pads. They have three sets of interior dimensions. You need to try it. So look around. Then if you want to save a few bucks, mailorder but ask the brick and mortar if they will pricematch.
I got a year-end model for a steal. It's much lighter than my HJC 3/4
