So the deal was getting another bike after 6 yrs being off of one with the wife is that I wear a helmet. I always wore a helmet when I rode sport bikes, but never have on a cruiser. Then again we have 2 small kids now. To be completely honest I was planning on just getting a low profile novelty helmet just to please the wife since she doesn't know any better. That is until a guy I work with (long time Harley rider) talked me I to getting a full face. So tonight after work I went down and bought me a flat black full face helmet. It's actually pretty nice to wear going down the highway, I just feel like I'm doing something wrong wearing one on a Harley. Like I look like a big ole ***** going down the highway.
I know safety is most important, but there's an image to be upheld too, and all the DOT 1/2 helmets look like a mushroom so that **** wasn't going to work.
I wear a full face on my Harleys. At first I thought no one would wave - but I get the wave all the time and I am seeing more and more Harley riders with full faces. I wouldn't worry about it, you're not alone

wear what you're comfortable in!!! with kids you have to be safe...I stopped riding for a few years until my kids were teenagers. I always wore one years ago because I was on active duty an had to. when I went back to riding I rarely wore a helmet until they talked me into wearing one now I don't feel right without it. I mostly wear a crazy al's dot beanie which is the size/weight of a novelty but a step up. I wear a 3/4 with face bubble sometimes on longer rides an a FF on long highway rides.
I wear a full face on my Harley. Nobody has ever said a negative thing about it. I ride with numerous other Harley riders and another guy on an Iron Horse. Most of them wear various styles of helmets. The main and most important thing is coming home in one piece to your kids.
I wear a ff shoei. I was riding Sunday and as I approached a red light, I filtered through a line of stopped cars to the front of the intersection. To my surprise, there were two other dynas there, both guys happen to be wearing ff as well.
I wear a full face: a Biltwell Gringo. It's a great helmet. Nice wide vision, good airflow, it's made extremely well, very little lift, and it looks great (assuming you like the retro look).
You know, have always worn a half helmet but, maybe with age, my ears get cold in the winter now. I have never worn, or tried on, a FF. Thought about it. I'm not claustrophobic, but they appear to be suffocating. Maybe I'll try a modular???
