I did exact same. Carlini 10" mini apes. Mounted inverted. You get used to looking there pretty quick. They are almost like fairing mounted. Much cleaner look.
Pingel sells a set of fairing mount drop down brackets but they are Good Lordie expensive...somewhere in the four hundred buck range.
You will have to go at least 12's to keep the stock fairing mirrors. Even then it will depend on how far you pull them back. I have 12's with fairing mirrors, about half the mirror is usable.
Bought some cheap $34 on amazon after I upgraded just to try them out. They were actually really good quality and I think they are ten times better than the OEM mirrors.
