Default Lower fairing speakers only. 2007 Road King

I have the advanblack lower fairings on my 2007 RKC. Their pods accept 6.5" speakers. Could someone recommend all that I will need to get this set up. Suggestions for speakers would be appreciated. I would like to simply run these speakers with an aux cord attached to my cell phone. I assume I need an amp, speaker wires, and power wires. Is it even worth it to just have lower speakers. I realize I will not get the sound that I would from a full fairing. Thanks in advance.

Good questions. My RKS is currently in the shop doing exactly this. Just 2 speakers and 2 tweeters in the fairing lowers (Advan Black). The shop I went with likes the Wetsounds Micro amp because its waterproof and small. They put them exposed to the elements outside of the saddlebags in the fender strut support. That way there is no drilling into the bags or wiring.

For speakers you can do anything, but we wanted lots of sound since there is only 2 speakers. Hertz SPL 165 speakers with the amp at 280Wx2 should produce more than enough volume even at highway speeds.

We are doing a Bluetooth **** from Wetsounds. It controls volume/track/play/pause. The problem was finding a good spot for that. It's going to the bottom left of the speaker grill on the speaker pod itself.

I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it back next week.

Advan Black lowers, Hertz MPX 165 speakers, Wetsounds amp and Wetsounds BT control ****. Sounds loud and clear at 80. It is really loud in general. We had to use a different Hertz speakers because the grills wouldn't fit with the air intake.

As for the original question: sound from the lowers is really all you need.

I got asked a question about the amp... I figured I'd share a photo.

I hadn't thought of mounting it in the fender strut, the bike shop did. I was skeptical at first but seems to be a good solution. It doesn't budge at all. No cutting into the bags. The amp completely sealed to be water and dirt resistant. I wasn't really worried about damage from water as the bike shop would warranty that. I was mostly worried about mounting near the rear wheel. Which still worries me in the back of my mind. But again it doesn't budge. I'm sure after so many miles I'll learn to trust it.

Creative. That’s a lot of faith in two zip ties. Might bump that up to a bracket at least, but time will tell.

I agree. A bracket would be better. I'm not completely comfortable with the zip ties just yet but there are 4 or 5 zip ties for added insurance. Time will tell.

Have to agree. Such a great looking bike and what you see of the finished set up looks really good. But what you don’t see looks like the shop took the easy way out.
There’s a lot of road crud back there. Waterproof or not .....
