Im in the same boat new street glide sitting at dealer with stage 4 kit on the way now Im reading about the lack of power due to epa compliant can I think the rest of the kit is nice Id just like to swap the cams if anyone has done this please share about it
you have a brand new bike at the dealership with a SE Stage 4 that will be installed and will be covered under the factory 2 year warranty..but are concerned it will lack power so are considering an aftermarket cam which will require a different tuner and blow your powertrain warranty..???
Exactly I have spent a good amount of money this far I want it to be what it should be not what California epa regulations say it should be if a $300 cam can add 15 or 20 hp and a lot nicer torque curve don’t you think that’s worth trying to do ?

absolutely..just think the warranty for 'most' is the elephant in the room on a brand new bike, but it all comes down to money and life on the road if there's issues that can't be easily addressed by the HD dealerships..different strokes for different folks..one of the big benefits and advantages for me doing a lot of touring is the vast dealership network and their ability to support necessary services..that stuff isn't important to everyone
Yeah I’m still deciding while waiting for the kit to get here is just frustrating when I know the SE kit could be so much better with just a little tweeking if it wasn’t for the regulations I don’t want a drag bike just good power and good lope out of cam it would be badass to have an all Harley / screaming eagle bike that did just that but who knows maybe I’ll be happy with just the stage 4 as it is

you've probably done all your homework, but seems to me folks here prefer the SE Stage 3 for more overall usable power..depends on how you like to and intend to ride and use your bike though

Man maybe just ride it for the warranty period then go big , just ride the bike first anyway .
Webby there's so much more in the Stage 4 kit than the 3 for just a little more money , well a grand but if you bought the CNC heads, TB, clutch kit, injectors,and the other extras you'd be at around 2k man, you can do more down the road if you go 120 or 124 those extra bits will work together with a bigger build man.You could also sell off the the stuff you don't use or don't need if you go bigger after warranty.So yea while the gains are less with the Stage 4 down the road it will come back to you.

That’s what I’ve decided I’m just gonna try it out I bought the ESP too the stage 4 was a no brained I can sell the stock heads and throttle body and recover some of the extra cost Harley has put together nice little package and under warranty to is really nice. It’s just the knowing what the bike is capable of that really bothers me but oh well. I have to give Harley credit the new blacked out specials are a good buy for some one who loves blacked out bikes well worth the extra cost over standard street glide

no debating value, I was thinking in terms of power band for Touring, after all they are..well..Touring bikes..the Stage 4 sounds like more of a top end race engine than an all day cruiser..but I understand, some folks buy these Touring bikes to have a hot rod

Yea I know it's a bit peaky power wise , that's just the cam though.
