Jagg/Marvin is on easter leave i think, so there's no one to confirm this is right or wrong. it feels wrong though. seems like, if the adapter were to rotate, that vibes would tear those fittings up. sortat hard to tell from the pictures but, there's very little clearance.

Are you talking about how the "extension screw" feels when you tighten it to a stop

no, how my lizard brain "feels" looking at those fittings and the bottom end with the scars from the old spinning adapter digging into it. .

No room for the fittings above ...right?

What if the adapter didn't rotate during use, would the fittings be OK?

How 'bout some these 90° fittings?

Is that 4550 adapter still "movable" when the screw extension is tightened?

That 4550 is a "Sandwich" adapter...different from your other one. So then maybe the adapter doesn't "tighten up" until the filter is installed? (thinking out loud... don't have it my hands )

The included ProLine swivel fittings will flow oil better than
the banjo style low-profile fittings. Not sure it matters much
with a bypass style adapter though. Wish Jagg would
show the 4550 adapter actually installed on an XL. All
of the pictures I've seen show fittings at the top, but
looks like they would hit the engine mount on an XL.

Thanks for being the proto-typer!

not really. i think i could hamfist to make it move but, it's pretty tight at 20ft/lbs there's no heat motivating it though.

as soon as Marvin says it's cool i'll move forward. the black cover hasn't shown up yet anyway. i'm wondering how the fittings will hold up over time. all i can do is try it.

Switching topics, back to the grenades. Have you thought about
havaing a local shop weld in a balance tube ? Maybe around the
swingarm pivot bolt area ? I guess even an 'old style' crossover
just under the throttle body would work as well...

thanks,

T.

i hadn't. the scout grenades have (usually hidden) crossover in the headers. i don't really get why the sportster (or any other harley) versions don't.
