Can you get at the bolts without having to remove the saddlebags?

I agree with hbsoldier3, I didn't like the way the detach mounting kit looked when the tour pak isn't installed so I simply remove the 4 bolts and I'm done. Nice clean look. I purchased both the solo seat and the SG seat and really liked the solo seat look much better. I ride solo to work during the week and ride with my 12 yr old son on wknds. change out is quick, maybe 3-5 mins.

This is what I purchased:

Fillerz inserts turn signals/brake lights = $186
License plate relocation kit from Softbrake = $55
Lighted License plate frame ebay = $20
Roadking tail light (doesn't have the clear window on top) = $5 used
Total = $266

Forgot to mention that I didn't like the license plate relocator, the antenna relocator or the turn signals relocator in the HD kit. So would have been a waste of money for me to buy the full kit. I don't use the radio, I have 500 songs on a flash drive. But if you need an antenna I would go with the one that hides in the batwing

Yes you can, just open the bag lid. Best to use a long torx bit socket. I've done it many times. You can buy a set of bits at China Freight for less than $10.

I didn't buy the detachable kit, I bought CD Bagz lights and the soft brake license plate relocation bracket. I didn't like know the softbrake plate looked and held the brake light away from the fender so I modified it to mount at the bottom of the fender. I had a cheap chrome license plate frame from my old bike laying around the garage so I formed it to have the same radius as the fender. Then I added two small led plate lights from eBay for about $10. I have about $220 in the whole setup and I don't have to worry about someone walking away with the tour pak on trips or rattling.

Thank you all so much for your replies. The more I read, the more I think I wont go with the quick detach kit.

I really like the setups you guys have. Now I just have to decide which lights I like better - the saddlebag ones or the inserts ones - I think I like the saddlebag ones best.

Also need to figure out which mounting option I like best for the license plate.

Besides the rear fender, where else have people mounted it?

THanks again everyone - sooo looking forward to getting my new limited.

Do a search, there are multiple threads with additional discussions and pics of setups to give you more options.

Also, I added the J&M non- powered hidden antenna under the fairing for the radio as I didn't like the look of the low mount antenna relocation that harley sells. The hidden antenna works good for me. I don't use the CB so I didn't add a hidden antenna for that. Good luck, lots of choices for your individual preferences.

That's the fun of customizing, everyone has different likes and dislikes. Mix and match what others have done or create one offs to fit your style. This site is great for being able to see examples of what others have done so you can decide what you like or dislike by seeing other's finished products.

Not only can I carry a large pizza, but I keep my rear speakers. Makes a huge difference on the highway. And it looks like it belongs!
