Have you called Hillside Cycles in New York, or Kirby at Vee Twin motorcycle in Florida? Both are forum sponsors. Either one of these guys could build your motor to your liking. They do headwork, and TB work. You will not be disappointed with their work.

Maybe go to the engine and cam forum and do some reading. Good luck.

Question

OP, NSR

I was looking at doing some work on my 103 and was liking the #s from Speeds Performance Plus
It was a 103-106 with extras I originally found the info from a Hot Bike magazine write up,and this forum
May not be what you are seeking but some interesting info, 120 hp, 130 Tq?
In the end I dumped the cash for engine work and traded my slim and went with an M8 Street-bob.

Dragging this thread up out of the basement....

Bike's in the shop, getting the S&S 124. It's basically back together now - I took these pics just after the project got started.

I swung by the shop a few days back to drop off a 30 tooth pulley for the transmission - got to hear it run, but on the 103's tune...still sounded sick!

Now the guys at Spencer's are finishing up the details and getting the tune sorted out.

In my opinion you should try to keep the compression ratio (cr) down. Going to larger displacement should allow you to do that. I probably should not say this, but I think a low compression ratio engine sounds better than a high compression ratio engine. Not to mention less heat, etc.

Earlier you posted the 124 crate motor was out so what did you do to get to a 124?
Simply use the Harley cases and buy everything else from S&S?

Yep - went with the S&S Hot Set Up Kit .... sorta. Timken conversion, different cams (not S&S), worked S&S heads with electronic compression releases and some other differences.

At this point, the CR is what it is, lol. The project is virtually finished.

As for the sound - I'm the other way - nothing better than an engine with alot of compression and a short, open pipe
