Yeah, MJ, I'm hoping they take me seriously as well. I feel stupid telling a service writer that my Harley is vibrating! I've explained the before and after difference and they're having multiple different techs test ride it. I'm fine with it if it's found "normal" by 3-4 techs. I just know it feels different now than it did before I took it there - which is the whole reason I took it back. I'm just concerned something may have been looked over (like the saddlebags that nearly fell off on my way to work after picking the bike up because only ONE bolt was installed in each bag and was only finger tight).

I went ahead and ordered the oil cooler fan (26800095) from Surdyke (https://www.surdyke.com/PartsMain.as...Name=&CatName=) for $143. I ordered the fan only and not the complete assembly (62700204) because my oil cooler is in good health and I will remove the mounting tabs from the cooler.

Non-fan oil cooler: 62700196
Fan-assisted oil cooler: 62700133
Fan: 26800095
Fan-assisted oil cooler kit (fan and fan-friendly oil cooler): 62700204

The way Surdyke.com (Gold Star HD's online sales) works, they process the order, order the part from Harley to Gold Star HD on behalf of the customer (known as "warehouse transfer"), then ship the part to the customer. Based on the warehouse transfer date, the fan will arrive at Gold Star on 9/12, so I'll probably get it the week of 9/23.

I did not read the entire thread, so I may have missed it; how are you wiring this new fan? Is there already a harness plug to supply power in the harness, and is there a sensor or ECM logic that will activate it?

Yep, it's plug-and-play on all oil-cooled M8 touring models as they have the plug behind the oil cooler already. ECM logic activates/deactivates it at certain engine/oil temperatures and vehicle speed.

Installed the Custom Dynamics Low Profile Bagz Saddlebag LEDs tonight. They are bright and match the Custom Dynamics Ringz perfectly. The Bagz work as Run/Brake/Turn out of the box. Total install time was about 30 minutes, including cleaning the saddlebags.

They're keeping it another night. Things like steering head adjustment and loose parts came up in the conversation. SW said, "steering head should be checked every 10,000 miles." I've had my bike into a different dealer previously while under warranty for my bike veering to the left and that dealer said nothing was wrong. I've done a swing test a time or two and it was within spec. I also mentioned that the service manual does not mention "checking the steering heads every 10,000 miles," but rather repacking the bearings every 25,000 miles. SW said they check the adjustment (i.e. swing test) every 10k there at Timm's. I'll check mine here in a couple weeks during the 20k service.
Picked up the bike tonight and nothing was found. Two more people rode the bike and didn't feel anything abnormal. I'm okay with that, it feels different to me, but is 'normal'. They said they checked the tire pressure and found 29psi front and 32 psi rear and one tech felt a slight difference after putting the pressures to 36/40 (I don't notice any difference). I checked my pressure last week and it was 38/42. hmmm

I'll start looking into things myself: exhaust crossover binding, motor mount alignment, etc. (using the list in the troubleshooting section of the service manual for excessive vibration).

Do you have to go to dealer and have it turned on. That's what I got from reading the link. Also the fan only part number you give come with the shroud and clips for mounting?

Yes, the dealer needs to plug their computer in and enable the oil cooler fan. Generally people say this is about 15-30 minute job so the dealers might charge anywhere from $0 to $50.

In order to mount the fan to a fanless oil cooler, you have to remove the oil cooler and cut the metal mounting tabs off of the cooler. You have to do this because the metal mounting tabs on the cooler are in the way of the fan. When I talk about buying the “fan” (26800095) it means the fan assembly (fan, motor, shroud, wiring, etc.) The fan shroud is molded plastic and snaps onto the oil cooler and also has mounting tabs on it as shown in the picture a couple posts up.
